An important development has occurred within the scope of the investigation launched by the Sındırgı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following the collapse of a 3-story building and the death of 1 person during the earthquake in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced on his social media account that, in line with the findings in the preliminary report prepared by the expert committee following inspections at the scene, the contractor who built the building and the building owner have been detained on charges of "Causing Death and Injury by Negligence."

Minister Tunç's statement is as follows:
"An investigation has been launched by the Sındırgı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the collapse of a 3-story building and the death of 1 of our citizens during the earthquake that occurred in our province of Balıkesir in our Sındırgı district.
Within the scope of the investigation, an expert committee consisting of a civil engineer, an architect, and a geophysical engineer was assigned to conduct inspections on the collapsed building, and core samples were taken from the building.
In line with the findings in the preliminary report of the expert committee as a result of the inspection, the contractor who built the building and the building owner were detained on charges of "Causing Death and Injury by Negligence."
The investigation is being carried out meticulously in all its aspects.
