5 CHP mayors, who were arrested during the 5th wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), have been suspended from duty.

Within the scope of 4 separate investigations launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into corruption allegations against CHP-run municipalities, including the IBB investigation, 22 people have been arrested.
Among those arrested are the mayors of Istanbul's Avcılar, Büyükçekmece, and Gaziosmanpaşa districts, as well as the mayors of Adana's Seyhan and Ceyhan districts.
A suspension decision has been issued regarding the 5 arrested CHP mayors.
In a statement from the Ministry of Interior, it was announced that Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, and Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe in Istanbul, as well as Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar and Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin in Adana, have been suspended from their duties following their arrest warrants.
WILL GAZİOSMANPAŞA MUNICIPALITY PASS TO THE AKP?
Following the arrest of Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, it is expected that the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı), which holds the numerical majority in the Municipal Council, will take over the municipality in the upcoming vote.
