According to data from AFAD, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Malatya at 09:00.

 

The earthquake, with its epicenter in the Battalgazi district, was recorded at a depth of 7.03 kilometers. It was reported that the tremor was also felt in surrounding provinces.

Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz stated in his remarks to TRT Haber that there were no negative situations.

STATEMENT FROM MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi made a statement on his social media account following the earthquake.

 

Çiftçi reported in his statement that there were no negative situations and that the teams were continuing their work. Çiftçi's statement is as follows:

"An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred at 09:00 in the Battalgazi district of our Malatya province, which was also felt in our provinces of Adıyaman, Elazığ, Tunceli, and Şanlıurfa.

All teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have immediately begun field surveys.

As of now, there is no negative situation.

Our teams are continuing their work.

I offer my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake.

May God protect our country and our nation from disasters."
