The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul yesterday (April 23) at noon affected the entire Marmara Region.

While there was no destruction or loss of life in the earthquake, which had its epicenter off the coast of Silivri in the Sea of Marmara, mobile operators failed the test.

Citizens who reached for their phones to contact their relatives following the earthquake, which caused great panic, were met with network outages.

The collapse of the infrastructure of mobile operator companies, which charge citizens exorbitant bills despite there being no destruction in the earthquake, has caused public backlash.

It has been learned that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu will meet with mobile operator officials today at 14:00.

HE HAD SAID "WE WILL PROVIDE INTERNET SUPPORT TO SYRIA"

On the other hand, Minister Uraloğlu, who recently traveled to Damascus, the capital of Syria, had stated in his remarks there that Turkey would provide internet support to Syria.

Following the earthquake, Uraloğlu's words have come back to the agenda.
