In the accident, which occurred when one of the poles collapsed and struck a cabin at 17:28 yesterday at the cable car facility, which was busy due to the Ramadan Feast holiday, 1 person died and 7 people, including 2 children, were injured, while 184 people in 24 cabins were left stranded in the air.
RESCUE EFFORTS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT
Rescue operations, which began yesterday by search and rescue teams from public institutions and organizations, led by AFAD, continued throughout the night with helicopters equipped with night-vision capabilities.
As a result of the intensive efforts of 7 helicopters, 87 vehicles, and approximately 500 personnel that lasted for 22.5 hours, all those stranded in the cabins were rescued.
AFAD teams will conclude the rescue operations after checking all cabins one by one with drones.
Those evacuated by helicopters were brought to the Coast Guard Group Command, where they underwent initial medical checks by health teams and were transferred to hospitals if needed.
