The Europe-based European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced that the earthquake occurred but that clear information regarding the magnitude and epicenter of the earthquake could not yet be provided.

AFAD announced that a 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. Sındırgı has continued to shake since the 6.1-magnitude earthquake on August 10.
