As part of an investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was carried out against Buca Municipality over allegations of 'corruption'. Detention warrants were issued for 62 people in operations conducted simultaneously across 6 provinces.
Numerous individuals, including Mayor Görkem Duman and former Mayor Erhan Kılıç, have been taken into custody.
It was reported that Duman was detained at his residence and that a search was conducted at his home.

The individuals taken into custody as part of the operation are as follows:
- 2 Mayors (current and previous term)
- 3 Deputy Mayors
- 1 District Political Party Chair (previous term)
- 6 Directors and Acting Directors (zoning, planning, social services, subsidiaries, support services, etc.)
- 4 Unit Chiefs and technical supervisors
- 6 Technical personnel working in zoning, licensing, progress payment, and occupancy permit units
- 3 Senior executives and accounting officers in municipal subsidiaries
- 5 Municipal office staff and administrative employees
- 6 Personnel working in municipal subsidiaries
- 6 Personnel working in Women and Family Services and social units
- 2 Data preparation and control operators / technical support personnel
- 2 Private secretaries and assistants to the mayor's office
- 1 Sociologist
- 1 Zero waste and climate manager
- 16 Company owners / contractors / business people
- 4 Architects / technical consultants
- 2 Non-public employees (hospital staff and retired former employee)
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated the following regarding the operation:
"Within the scope of the work carried out under the coordination of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale corruption operation has been conducted against Buca Municipality and its affiliated subsidiaries.
As part of the investigation, detention warrants have been issued for a total of 62 suspects, including the current mayor, the previous term mayor, deputy mayors, political party officials, managers and employees of municipal subsidiaries, and some contractors.
The operation has been carried out in accordance with the decision, and efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing. The investigation is being conducted meticulously under the coordination of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
