Breaking News: Arrested Buca Mayor Görkem Duman suspended from office!

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, Buca Mayor Görkem Duman has been suspended from his post due to an ongoing investigation into "establishing an organization to commit crimes, membership in an organization, bribery, and embezzlement."

Görkem Duman, who serves as the mayor of Buca, one of the central districts of İzmir, has been temporarily removed from his position by a decision of the Ministry of Interior within the scope of an investigation launched against him.

In the information provided by the Ministry, it was stated that following the initiation of an investigation by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office covering the crimes of "establishing an organization to commit crimes and membership in an organization, bribery, and embezzlement," a detention measure was applied against Duman, and therefore his mayoral powers were suspended by the Ministry of Interior.

The full statement is as follows:

"Buca Mayor Görkem DUMAN has been suspended from office as a temporary measure by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, following the initiation of an investigation by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under file number 2025/114123 for the crimes of “Establishing an Organization to Commit Crimes and 

Membership in an Organization, Bribery, and Embezzlement” and the subsequent application of a detention measure.
