In Kocaeli, the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has taken action following allegations regarding the existence of structures similar to the 'Newborn Gang' in connection with baby deaths. It was also stated that the file could be directly linked to the Newborn Gang.

The investigation was launched following the deaths of three babies of the Hamide and Akın Okutucu couple and one baby being left blind. The family filed a criminal complaint against the hospital management and doctors due to these tragic events that occurred after giving birth at a private hospital in Kocaeli.

MINISTRY OF HEALTH'S INVESTIGATION PERMISSION PROCESS

According to the report by Esra Tokat from Anka, the Prosecutor's Office requested investigation permission from the Ministry of Health following the criminal complaint. The Ministry granted permission for the investigation approximately one year later. During this process, hospital officials and doctors argued that they had no negligence. Doctor M.F.Ş. stated that the babies were transferred in line with the families' own requests.

In his statement, Doctor M.F.Ş. argued that the babies' health conditions were not good from birth and that treatment was applied in accordance with all medical standards. However, the allegation that the hospital to which the babies were transferred was linked to the 'Newborn Gang' changed the course of the investigation. Additionally, new investigations have been opened regarding other baby deaths.
