Ertan Yıldız, one of the suspects arrested as part of the corruption investigation conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), has given a statement by benefiting from effective remorse provisions.
Yıldız, who is stated to have shared important information within the scope of the investigation, was released to be placed under house arrest upon the request of the prosecutor's office.
The court ruled for the implementation of judicial control measures for Yıldız, which include a travel ban and monitoring from home with an electronic tag.
INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN LAUNCHED
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into allegations that suspect Ertan Yıldız, who was arrested in the corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was being pressured in prison by lawyers without power of attorney after he gave a statement under effective remorse.
EXPULSION FROM CHP REQUESTED
On the other hand, CHP Kadıköy District Vice President Okan Karamanlı submitted a petition for Yıldız to be referred to the disciplinary board with a request for his expulsion from the CHP. Karamanlı stated, "The Bakırköy Municipality Council Member named Ertan Yıldız has lost the qualifications and nature of being a member of the Republican People's Party. I request that he be urgently referred to disciplinary proceedings and subsequently expelled from party membership."
