It has been learned that Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney has been summoned to testify regarding allegations of irregularities at the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress and certain audio recordings shared on social media.

Audio recordings, which were alleged to belong to İnan Güney and suggested that delegate bargaining took place at the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress, had become a topic of discussion on social media.

It was stated that within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, İnan Güney was summoned to the courthouse to provide a statement in the capacity of a suspect.

STATEMENT FROM İNAN GÜNEY REGARDING THE AUDIO RECORDING

İnan Güney made a statement regarding the audio recordings alleged to belong to him. In his statement, he said, "There is no voice belonging to me in the relevant recording, nor did I take part in such a meeting in any way. Despite this, the expressions used in posts that are clearly organized from a single center are of a nature that could offend my honor, dignity, and reputation."

The statement continued as follows:

"In recent days, an audio recording alleged to belong to me has been circulated through certain social media accounts. While our Beyoğlu has many problems awaiting solutions and our neighbors have pressing difficulties, I am saddened to have to respond to such an ugly slander.

"As someone who has been involved in politics for decades and has served as a district chair and council member for years, it is known to everyone, friend and foe alike, with what principles and methods I conduct politics.

"There is no voice belonging to me in the relevant recording, nor did I take part in such a meeting in any way. Despite this, the expressions used in posts that are clearly organized from a single center are of a nature that could offend my honor, dignity, and reputation.

"I would like to share with the public that we have filed a criminal complaint against the social media users in question, requesting that an investigation be launched for the crime of defamation against the perception operations being attempted through untrue accusations, and that the suspects be punished in accordance with the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) and other relevant legislation corresponding to their actions."
