CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir announced on X that the influence agent law has been withdrawn.
Emir stated the following in his announcement:
"The legislative proposal known in the public eye as the 'influence agent' law has been withdrawn as of this moment, as a result of our efforts to inform the public—which received great support from our people—and our work and criticisms in Parliament, which we have been carrying out for weeks."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Discussions on the omnibus bill, which included the AK Party's "influence agent" regulation, had begun in the TBMM Justice Commission, and the draft law had been accepted by the commission.
However, the draft law, which had particularly concerned journalists, commentators, and academics, has been withdrawn before reaching the General Assembly.
