Breaking News: Criminal complaint against Özgür Özel by Mesut Özarslan

Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who resigned from the CHP, has filed a criminal complaint against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on charges of 'threat' and 'insult'.

Özarslan had claimed that Özgür Özel insulted his family, while Özel denied these allegations.

In the statement where he announced his resignation, Özarslan alleged that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel sent him a WhatsApp message and cursed at him and his mother.

Speaking to İsmail Saymaz, Özel had responded to the allegations as follows:

“They called you a thief, I called you, I asked. You said, ‘I have no corruption, no theft, they are slandering me.’ I believed you, I trusted you. Now, you are going to those who called you a thief and leaving those who trusted you. With what you have done, I have come to believe that you are a great thief. Because you are stealing our will. Furthermore, it is becoming clear that you have committed all those crimes you were accused of. What you are doing will shame the mother who gave birth to you, your children, and your grandchildren. We will meet one day, I will never forgive you. That is what I said.”

Responding to Özarslan’s claim that he “cursed at national and spiritual values,” Özel stated, “What national and spiritual value? Let him bring it, let him show it. Neither to national and spiritual values nor to his family... There is no cursing at a mother,” he said.
