Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made statements regarding the agenda at his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Highlights from Bahçeli's speech are as follows:

"NATO is neither a reason for allegiance for Turkey nor a command center to be unconditionally submitted to. Our Ankara-centered horizon of future and national survival is above all alliances that derive their source from abroad. NATO is an alliance born out of security needs and defense necessities. The reason for this alliance's existence is mutual respect, equal treatment, fair burden-sharing, and honesty in threat perception. Today, Turkey is a state that stands at the very heart of all vital and critical issues facing NATO.

"MILITARY HOSPITALS MUST BE REOPENED"

Trying to make progress within NATO without taking the capital, Ankara, into account is like walking with your eyes closed on slippery ground. Any equation that excludes the centuries-old experience of the victorious Turkish army, the production power of the Turkish defense industry that has astonished the world, and Turkey's unshakable geopolitical weight is doomed to remain incomplete and collapse.

Today, Turkey is the only country within NATO that does not have military hospitals. It is of vital importance that military hospitals be reopened and integrated back into the army."
