Breaking News... Earthquake hits Istanbul!

An earthquake has occurred in Istanbul. According to information provided by AFAD, the earthquake, which took place at 19:53, was measured at a magnitude of 6.1.

The earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces. It was reported that nearly 10 buildings collapsed in Balıkesir, the epicenter of the earthquake.

Following the earthquake, which was also felt in Istanbul, the first statement came from Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.

Yerlikaya used the following expressions in his post:

"A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has occurred in Sındırgı, Balıkesir. Regarding the earthquake, which was also felt in Istanbul and surrounding provinces, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have immediately begun field surveys. As of now, there are no negative reports. We are monitoring the situation moment by moment."
