Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has filed his candidacy application through his lawyer for the March 23 primary, where the Republican People's Party (CHP) will determine its presidential candidate. Following his application, İmamoğlu shared a video on his social media account, stating, "The first step of a new beginning."

The Republican People's Party (CHP), which has initiated the process to determine its presidential candidate, will hold a primary election on March 23 in line with this goal.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has officially become a candidate for the CHP's presidential primary.

It was learned that İmamoğlu's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, went to the CHP Headquarters to submit the candidacy application.

İMAMOĞLU SHARED A VIDEO

Following his candidacy application, IMM Mayor İmamoğlu made a statement by sharing a video on his personal social media account.

Stating, "The first step of a new beginning," İmamoğlu said, "We are embarking on a journey with our nation, which longs for justice, prosperity, and unity."

 

İmamoğlu's post is as follows:

Today, by taking the first step of a new beginning, I have officially submitted my application to be the Presidential Candidate of the Republican People's Party, of which I am honored to be a member.

We are embarking on a journey with our nation, which deserves to live humanely and longs for freedom, justice, prosperity, and unity.

We are embarking on a journey to make our state democratic and strong, our nation wealthy and peaceful, and our citizens equal and free.

We will implement parliamentary democracy, the separation of powers, and checks and balances as soon as possible. We will prioritize democratic participation.

We will address our nation's concerns and anxieties, and together we will revive hope and dreams for the future.

We will make justice the foundation of the state, not of the ruling power; we will rid state institutions, science, art, sports, and the media of partisanship; we will not view our rivals as enemies; and we will transform political competition into a fair, civilized, and honorable race in the presence of the nation.

We will protect our country, our unity, our solidarity, and the goal of a strong Turkey together.

We will work hard, we will achieve much, and we will share fairly. We will increase our abundance as a nation. In this struggle, which we will walk with faith and hope, we will never tire and we will never give up.

We will make our Republic, the legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our martyrs, shine like a star in its second century. With the strong participation and prayers of our nation,
