President Erdoğan stated that they are facing a great disaster in the fight against forest fires and expressed that firefighting efforts are continuing at full speed.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated in his remarks after Friday prayers that there is a possibility of holding talks with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin within this week.

Erdoğan said that these meetings could potentially aim to bring them together in Istanbul.

FIGHT AGAINST FOREST FIRES

Erdoğan also shared important information regarding the forest fires. Stating that the fires are continuing in Karabük, Safranbolu, Antalya Gazipaşa, Uşak, and Sivaslı, Erdoğan said, "There are 27 aircraft currently active in these areas. Firefighting operations are continuing with 105 helicopters. 6 thousand land vehicles and 25 thousand personnel are continuing this struggle." Stating that they are facing a great disaster in the fight against the fires, the President conveyed his thanks to all firefighters.

Erdoğan expressed that the heroic firefighters who took part in the fight against the fires worked with great devotion: "These heroes who remained within the circle of fire could not escape from there, and we bid farewell to our martyrs to eternity. We are grateful to them."

ISTANBUL TARGET FOR MEETINGS

Regarding the meetings he plans to hold with Putin and Trump, President Erdoğan said, "We will make an effort to see if we can bring these leaders together in Istanbul by holding talks with Mr. Putin and Trump again within this week."
