The Istanbul Governor's Office has issued a new circular as part of measures taken against forest fires due to rising temperatures and drought.
According to the decision taken by the Governor's Office, the sale of flammable and explosive materials such as fireworks, torches, and signal flares has been banned throughout Istanbul until October 28, 2025.
The circular stated that instructions have been given to law enforcement agencies regarding the implementation of the ban, noting, “Our police, gendarmerie, and other relevant inspection units will monitor the implementation without interruption. Legal action will be initiated against individuals or businesses that act in violation of the bans.”
The Governor's Office also called on citizens to be sensitive to forest fires and underscored the need to avoid behaviors that could harm nature.
