Breaking News: First statement from Foreign Ministry on attack against Sumud Flotilla

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that diplomatic initiatives have been launched for Turkish citizens on board the Global Sumud Flotilla following the attack on the fleet.

In a written statement from the Ministry, it was stated: "The attack carried out by Israeli forces in international waters against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was formed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, is an act of piracy. By attacking the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is attempting to draw attention to the humanitarian catastrophe experienced by the oppressed people in Gaza, Israel has targeted humanitarian values and international law."

The statement emphasized that the attack violates the freedom of navigation in international waters, adding: "This aggression by Israel also violates the principle of freedom of navigation in international waters. We call on the international community to adopt a common stance against this lawless act by Israel. All necessary initiatives are being taken in coordination with other relevant countries regarding the situation of our citizens and other passengers on the flotilla."
