Following the announcement by Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as the trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, that he would go to the party headquarters on Monday, September 8, he issued a call to gather at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency. While the Governor's Office issued a ban on demonstrations in 6 districts of Istanbul, the roads leading to the party building were closed.
As the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency was placed under a police blockade, an intervention with pepper spray took place.
APPLICATION TO THE COURT BY GÜRSEL TEKİN
Gürsel Tekin, for his part, applied to the court, requesting that "the necessary notifications and correspondence for him to begin his duties be carried out urgently."
In the petition submitted to the court with the signature of Tekin's lawyer, Barış Demirkuş, the following expressions were included: "For the execution of the interim decision dated 02/09/2025 rendered by your Honorable Court, the necessary notifications, correspondence, and procedures should be carried out urgently, and the temporary board, including my client, should be enabled to effectively begin its duties..."
While the tension in front of and around the party building continues, a flash move has come from the CHP.
The CHP has requested an extraordinary congress for the Istanbul Provincial Congress, in addition to the grand party convention.
According to what was reported by Fevzi Çakır from Habertürk, the application for an extraordinary congress, based on Article 43 of the party charter, was submitted to the Sarıyer District Election Board by the delegates.
Following the application, the date for the Istanbul Extraordinary Provincial Congress has been determined. Accordingly, the congress will be held on September 24.
