Breaking News: Forest fire in Denizli brought under control

A forest fire that broke out due to a lightning strike in the Babadağ district of Denizli has been brought under control.

A forest fire broke out at multiple points in the Yeniköy neighborhood of Denizli's Babadağ district following a lightning strike. Upon notification of the fire, numerous forestry and firefighting teams were dispatched to the region.

Due to strong winds, the fire quickly intensified and spread to the Kelleci and Mollaahmet neighborhoods. Because the fire threatened residential areas, the Mollaahmet neighborhood, where approximately one thousand people live, was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

During the night, non-governmental organizations and citizens also continued firefighting efforts alongside forestry personnel to help combat the blaze.

FIRE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the fire has been brought under control.

Stating that cooling efforts are ongoing, Yumaklı included the following remarks in his post on his X account:

"The forest fire that began yesterday in Denizli's Babadağ has been BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL as a result of the effective aerial and ground intervention by our teams."
