Breaking News: Grave of former Transport Minister Arif Ahmet Denizolgun to be exhumed

A new development has occurred in the investigation into the suspicious 2016 death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, the former leader of the Süleymancı community. At the request of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it has been decided to exhume Denizolgun's grave to re-examine the cause of death.

An exhumation order has been issued in the investigation into the suspicious death of former Transport Minister Arif Ahmet Denizolgun. In line with the request of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Denizolgun's grave will be opened.

Following the exhumation, a new forensic examination will be conducted to determine the cause of Denizolgun's death.

STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

In a written statement issued by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that there were allegations and complaints regarding Denizolgun's death and the autopsy procedures performed as part of the investigation.

The statement included the following:

"It is understood that in the investigation file registered under the 2026/8086 sequence of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, allegations and complaints have been made regarding the death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, who passed away on 06/09/2016, and the autopsy procedures performed; in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK), an exhumation order has been issued to conduct a re-examination to determine the true cause of death of the deceased."

DENİZOLGUN'S DEATH

Former Transport Minister Arif Ahmet Denizolgun passed away in 2016. Following his death, various allegations had been brought to the agenda.

The Denizolgun family had also recently applied to the Department for Investigation of Unsolved Crimes with a request for the death to be re-investigated.
