Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met in Ankara with the agenda of Syria.

According to NTV, the critical summit addressed the new era that began with the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria and the fight against terrorism. On the other hand, the Syrian National Army's progress in the region was also among the topics on the table.

Minister Fidan stated that they discussed areas of cooperation between the US and Turkey, the need to ensure stability in Syria as soon as possible, preventing terrorism from finding a foothold, and ensuring that ISIS and the PKK do not dominate the region.

Minister Fidan said, "We agreed on the need to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible. Both the US and Turkey, along with other partners, are already putting in intensive efforts for a ceasefire in the region. But unfortunately, the spiral of violence in the region does not stop. Israel continues to kill civilians. We discussed what can be done to stop this situation as soon as possible."

In the statement made by Blinken following the meeting, it was noted that there is a broad agreement on the landscape desired to be seen in Syria.

Blinken stated, "We discussed the role that the US and Turkey will play regarding the future of Syria. We addressed the necessity of continuing efforts to combat DAESH."
