CHP presidential candidate and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained in Silivri Prison since March 23, has issued a statement regarding the IMM indictment in which he is held responsible for 142 actions and faces up to 2352 years in prison.
The statement, made by İmamoğlu through his lawyers, was published on the X account named Presidential Candidate Office.
Calling for the trial to be broadcast live, İmamoğlu stated the following in his announcement:
"After 237 days, they were finally able to prepare the indictment as a result of an unlawful investigation they conducted with slanders, setups, and unprecedented attacks and harassment in the judiciary.
It is such an indictment that; it has moved beyond the so-called corruption and bribery slanders they have been stomping on for months, and has reached the point of targeting the CHP, the founder of our Republic. Shame on you.
The indictment you have written consists of lies that you have lined up and tied together by threatening people, taking them hostage, and forcing them to slander through pressure.
Do you really have the courage? I challenge you!
Broadcast the trial live, let everyone see your lies and slanders! Trust the conscience of society and the sense of justice of the nation just once. Let the nation decide: 'Are we the guilty ones, or are those who conducted this unlawful investigation?'
I call upon our Grand National Assembly, the representative of the national will and the symbol of the social conscience, to take action.
Let the Grand National Assembly of Turkey take action so that the court proceedings can be broadcast on TRT screens and other channels. Let the representatives of the nation not hide this judicial process, which concerns the future of the nation, from the nation itself!
Our foreheads are clear, our heads are held high! There is nothing we cannot account for to this noble nation!"
