Breaking News: İmamoğlu's bodyguard Bektaş Kamburoğlu released! His statement has emerged

The statement given to the police by Bektaş Kamburoğlu, who was detained on February 7 on allegations of "being a member of an organization established to commit crimes" as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has emerged. Kamburoğlu, who has long served as a close bodyguard for the imprisoned İBB President and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, was questioned in detail at the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, during the statement, Kamburoğlu was questioned about the allegation of membership in an organization, HTS and base station records spanning years with various individuals, his presence in camera footage on specific dates, and letters found in his home.

"I AM NOT A MEMBER OF ANY ORGANIZATION"

Kamburoğlu denied the accusations directed at him and stated that he had no connection to any criminal organization. He also declared that he did not wish to benefit from effective remorse provisions.

Stating that he has served as Ekrem İmamoğlu's close bodyguard for approximately 12 years, Kamburoğlu expressed that being in the same environments as many people and the formation of base station records in this context were natural consequences of his duty.

NAMES IN THE INVESTIGATION FILE BROUGHT UP

In his statement, Kamburoğlu was asked about Murat Ongun, Seza Büyükçulha, Hakan Karanis, Tuncay Yılmaz, Fatih Keleş, Ertan Yıldız, Adem Soytekin, Emrah Bağdatlı, and several other names. Kamburoğlu noted that he knew some of these individuals from the İBB or the municipal circle, but that there was no criminal or hierarchical bond between them.

EXPLANATION FOR HTS RECORDS AND BASE STATION OVERLAPS

While it was stated in the HTS analyses in the file that Kamburoğlu had intense communication and shared base station records with certain names, Kamburoğlu stated that this situation stemmed from his duties. He said that due to İmamoğlu's schedule, he was present in many provinces across Turkey, worked in crowded areas, and that base station overlaps were therefore inevitable.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FOOTAGE AROUND THE HOTEL AND RESIDENCE

The statement transcript also included findings regarding his base station records in the vicinity of the Le Meridien Hotel and the area where the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality President's residence is located on specific dates. Kamburoğlu stated that his residence was close to the hotel, that he might have passed through the area on foot, and that he had no knowledge or involvement regarding the removal or destruction of camera devices.

LETTERS FOUND AT HOME

Letters seized during a search of Kamburoğlu's home, which were stated to have been written by Mustafa Akın and Ekrem İmamoğlu, were also brought up in his statement. Kamburoğlu said that the letters in question were delivered to him through his lawyer and that he kept them because they contained personal and emotional content.

At the end of his statement, Kamburoğlu denied all the accusations directed at him, stated that he had no intention of committing a crime, had no purpose such as fleeing or destroying evidence, and expressed that he would continue to serve his state and nation.
