Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş has made his decision regarding the primary election that the CHP will hold to determine its presidential candidate.

Yavaş informed CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the triple summit that he would not participate in the primary election.

Stating that alternatives should be on the table, it was learned that Yavaş said, "Our agenda should be hunger and poverty; people are miserable, and we can only topple the government with this agenda. We should work on this issue and give the public confidence that we can fix the deteriorating economy, and this should be our priority."

Following the CHP's decision to determine its presidential candidate through a primary election, the differing statements from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş, whose names have come to the forefront for candidacy, had drawn attention.

While İBB Mayor İmamoğlu supported the primary election, ABB Mayor Yavaş had closed the doors to candidacy discussions, stating that it was too early to determine a candidate and that Turkey's real agenda was the economy.
