Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they would determine their presidential candidate through a primary election.

While Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu expressed support for the primary, it was alleged that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş opposed it.

It was noted that ABB Mayor Yavaş would make a public statement today at 11:00.

STATEMENT FROM MANSUR YAVAŞ ON THE PRIMARY ELECTION

Yavaş, who attended the "Are We Ready for a Possible Earthquake?" event organized by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Affairs, later made statements to journalists.

Regarding the CHP's decision to determine its presidential candidate through a primary election, Yavaş stated the following:

"I am of the opinion that it is too early to determine a candidate. The election date is not yet clear. Conditions will change by then. I believe that while there are economic difficulties, society should not be preoccupied with this. I think candidates should not exhaust each other's energy. I want all political parties, especially the opposition, to address poverty together."

"WE SHALL SEE WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS"

In response to the question, "Does this mean you will not be a candidate if there is a primary election?", Yavaş replied, "There is no such thing. How could that be? We shall see what the future holds; let's first see an election date set before deciding who will remain."
