Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was taken into custody this morning in a dawn operation as part of a 'corruption' and 'terrorism' investigation launched into the municipality.
A note written by hand by Mayor İmamoğlu, who is currently being held at the Vatan Police Headquarters, was shared from his social media account.
İmamoğlu's note is as follows:
"Our nation will give the necessary response to the conspiracies, traps, lies, those who violate the rights of the people, and those who steal the will of the people. I entrust myself first to God, and then to our nation. Respectfully..."
