Breaking News: New statement from Özgür Özel! 'The convention that everyone wants will be convened within 40 days'

Özgür Özel, who was re-elected as Group Chairman at the first closed group meeting where all eyes were turned following the "absolute nullity" decision in the CHP, made notable statements.

Responding to claims that a consensus had been reached within the party, Özel stated that he would manage the group meetings himself until the convention.

"I WAS ELECTED TO THIS POSITION IN A CLOSED GROUP MEETING 3 YEARS AGO AS WELL"

Starting his statement by recalling the past process, Özel said that he was elected to the position of Group Chairman in a closed group meeting three years ago as well.

Özel stated, "Dear friends, I was elected in a closed group meeting 3 years ago as well. 5 months later, I was elected Chairman at the congress."

"THE ABSOLUTE NULLITY DECISION HAS BEEN SENT TO VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS"

Touching upon the "absolute nullity" decision regarding the CHP, Özel said that the decision had been forwarded to the relevant departments within the party.

Özel said, "The absolute nullity decision was issued. It has been sent to various departments."

"I WAS RE-ELECTED WITH THE SUPPORT OF 110 OF MY COLLEAGUES"

Stating that holding an election at the first closed-door group meeting is a party rule, Özel announced that a new Group Chairmanship election was held upon the proposal of the deputies.

Stating that he received great support in the vote, Özel used the following expressions:

"There is a rule that an election is held at the first closed-door group meeting. Upon the proposal of our colleagues, a new Group Chairman election was proposed. The election was held. All votes cast were for me, except for one. I was elected Group Chairman with the support of 110 of my colleagues. May it be auspicious."

"I WILL CONDUCT THE GROUP MEETINGS UNTIL THE CONVENTION"

Stating that the party group meeting was planned three days in advance, Özel also responded to claims that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would take the group podium.

Özel said, "I don't think Kılıçdaroğlu expects me to offer him the group podium."

Stating that he would manage the group meetings until the convention process, Özel said, "As the Group Chairman, I will conduct the group meetings until the convention is held."

"THERE IS NO COMPROMISE, WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE DECISION"

Özgür Özel also commented on the reports in the public domain suggesting that a "compromise had been reached."

Refuting the claims in question, Özel stated, "I read the news that they had reached a compromise. There is no such compromise. There is no compromise because we do not accept the decision."

Özel said, "The issue that everyone wants and expects is one thing; for the convention to be convened within 40 days, and for the party to emerge from this situation and move forward."
