WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
In the drug operations launched in October, singers and actors such as İrem Derici, Hadise, and Kubilay Aka were detained. This first wave was followed by an operation targeting television presenters. Presenters Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, Hande Sarıoğlu, and Meltem Acet were detained and subjected to testing on charges of “using drugs or stimulant substances.”
Within the scope of the investigation, 10 people, including former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were arrested on charges of “using, possessing, and providing a place for drug use.” Former presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, whose drug test result was positive, was arrested by the court she was brought before on charges of “facilitating drug use.” Former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Veyis Ateş was also arrested for drugs.
During this process, social media influencer Sercan Yaşar, who was arrested for “possessing and selling drugs,” was taken to the courthouse on December 17. He was released after his statement.
Another notable development within the same investigation was the issuance of arrest warrants for Kasım Garipoğlu, cousin of Münevver Karabulut’s murderer Cem Garipoğlu, and Burak Ateş.
Detention warrants were issued for İrem Sak, Danla Bilic, Mümine Senna Yıldız, Aleyna Tilki, Melisa Döngel, Yusuf Güney, and Cihan Şenözlü on charges of “purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulant substances for personal use.”
Teams from the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command conducted simultaneous raids on 7 addresses in Sarıyer, Eyüpsultan, Şişli, Üsküdar, Bakırköy, and Esenyurt. Actress İrem Sak, social media influencer Danla Bilic, singer Aleyna Tilki, and Mümine Senna Yıldız were detained.
Suspects Melisa Döngel, Yusuf Güney, and Cihan Şenözlü could not be found at their addresses. During the search of Mümine Senna Yıldız’s home, 5 grams of cannabis and a cannabis grinder were found.
Tilki, Bilic, Sak, and Yıldız, who were detained, were released after providing blood and hair samples at the Council of Forensic Medicine.
Arrest warrants were issued for Şeyma Subaşı, Şevval Şahin, and Mert Vidinli, who were determined to be abroad. Subaşı’s test had previously come back positive, and she had been released under judicial control.
