The trial of former Denizbank branch manager Seçil Erzan, who is accused of defrauding more than 30 people, including famous footballers, with the promise of a high-yield secret fund under the name of the "Fatih Terim Fund," continues.
In the case closely followed by the public, Erzan appeared before the judge again at the Istanbul 41st High Criminal Court.
According to a report by Sabah, in addition to Erzan, who connected to the hearing via SEGBİS (Audio and Video Information System) from the prison where she is being held, some defendants and lawyers for the parties were also present in the courtroom.
Following the defense statements at the hearing, the public prosecutor evaluated the stage the investigation has reached and requested that the file be sent to them for the preparation of the opinion. Furthermore, the prosecutor expressed the opinion that Seçil Erzan's detention should continue.
ERZAN REQUESTED HER RELEASE
Given the floor, Seçil Erzan defended herself with the following words:
"I am absolutely not a fraudster. The 22 people in the file have no claims against me. I am about to lose my mind. Everyone says they have a claim. Arda Turan has no claim. He received 13 million dollars from the bank. I hope Arda Turan has given the money to Emre Çolak, whom he brought. I leave it to his conscience. I had said that Süleyman Aslan was a loan shark; now the newspapers are writing about it for the IMM file. I cannot breathe. I did not mislead anyone's will. Did Seçil say there is a fund and go around collecting money from patisseries, is that it? Is it that simple? I have defrauded all these people with my 1.50-meter height."
With these statements, Erzan requested her release.
FATİH TERİM DEVELOPMENT
The court panel, in its interim decision, ruled that the portion of the file concerning the Fatih Terim-Seçil Erzan relationship should be sent to mediation due to the possibility that it could be based on the charge of "misconduct in office."
DECISION TO CONTINUE ERZAN'S DETENTION
It was decided that the file would be submitted to the prosecutor for evaluation after the mediation process and that Seçil Erzan's detention would continue. The hearing was adjourned to October 6.
