Breaking News: Operation at CHP-run Bayrampaşa Municipality! Detention warrants issued for 48 people

It has been reported that detention warrants have been issued for a large number of individuals, including Mayor Hasan Mutlu, in an operation targeting the CHP-run Bayrampaşa Municipality.

Operations targeting CHP-run municipalities continue. Most recently, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the Bayrampaşa Municipality over allegations of corruption. As part of the operation, detention warrants were issued for 48 people, including Mayor Hasan Mutlu.

It was learned that police are conducting searches at the municipal building.

MAYOR MUTLU IN CUSTODY

According to journalist İsmail Saymaz, Hasan Mutlu, along with 5 of his deputies and 5 municipal council members, have been taken into custody.

STATEMENT FROM THE ISTANBUL CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The statement issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the operation included the following:

"Instructions have been given to the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch to execute arrest and detention procedures for 48 suspects, including Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who are alleged to have committed acts of embezzlement, extortion, bribery, and bid-rigging, as well as to carry out search and seizure operations at 72 residences and workplaces involving public officials and certain individuals at the Bayrampaşa Municipality.

The procedures are ongoing.
