Breaking News: Operation at CHP-run Etimesgut Municipality

An operation was carried out at the CHP-run Etimesgut Municipality as part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was reported that 4 people have been taken into custody.

Operations targeting CHP-run municipalities continue. Most recently, an operation was conducted at the CHP-run Etimesgut Municipality on charges of embezzlement.

The Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that 4 people were taken into custody as part of the operation.

Etimesgut Municipality had passed from the MHP to the CHP after approximately 20 years in the local elections held on March 31, 2024. The CHP candidate, Erdal Beşikçioğlu, reached a vote share of 56 percent.

The statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:

“During the regular audits of the 2025 accounts and transactions of the Etimesgut Municipality conducted by the Court of Accounts,

regarding the irregularities detected in the Etimesgut Municipality's

soup kitchen, food procurement and distribution operations, and the account information of Etimkent A.Ş.,

following the reports prepared, the Ankara West

Within the scope of the investigation initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of embezzlement;

Regarding the suspects identified as M.Ç., General Manager of Etimkent A.Ş., a subsidiary company whose capital is entirely owned by the Etimesgut Municipality,

A.C., Manager of the Etimesgut Municipality Social Assistance Affairs Directorate,

S.K., Clerk at the Etimesgut Municipality Social Assistance Affairs Directorate,

and H.B., the cashier responsible at Etimkent A.Ş.,

based on search warrants obtained from the Ankara West Criminal Court of Peace and instructions issued by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office,

simultaneous search and seizure operations were conducted at the suspects' residences and workplaces on 30.03.2026,

and all suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.

The investigation conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being pursued meticulously in all its aspects, and further information regarding the progress and outcome of the investigation will be provided,
