An operation was carried out in the morning as part of a bribery investigation conducted in the Seferihisar district of İzmir.
In the operation organized within the framework of the investigation, 6 people, including Seferihisar Deputy Mayor Gökhan Pehlivan, were detained.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
In the statement made by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the operation, the following was noted:
"Under the coordination of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, work is being carried out in a multi-faceted and meticulous manner in line with the evidence obtained within the scope of the investigation conducted by the relevant law enforcement units into the crime of 'bribery'.
Within the framework of the investigation, in the operational activities previously carried out between May 18-20, 2026, findings were reached that some individuals and organizations connected to Seferihisar Municipality had obtained benefits in exchange for transactions related to construction and zoning processes, and as a result of the judicial proceedings carried out, arrest measures were applied against some suspects.
In the ongoing investigation, new evidence has been obtained indicating that an irregular benefit relationship was established between some officials at the municipality and private sector representatives during the execution of construction and zoning transactions, and that in this context, a total of approximately 6 million TL in bribes was exchanged by hand and through bank accounts.
In line with the evidence obtained, a simultaneous operation was organized in 2 provinces, centered in İzmir, on June 17, 2026, for the purpose of apprehending the suspects and seizing elements of the crime.
Within the scope of the operation, 6 suspects, including a deputy mayor and various company officials, were apprehended and detained, and digital materials belonging to the suspects, as well as various documents and data that could be the subject of the investigation, were seized for examination.
Within the scope of the operation;

* R.K.B. (Construction Company Official),
* Ö.A. (Public Official),
* S.Y. (Company Official),
* R.Ö. (Company Official), have been detained.
The police procedures for the detained suspects are ongoing, and all evidence obtained within the scope of the investigation is being evaluated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and efforts to uncover all aspects of the incident are being continued with sensitivity."
