In the trial regarding the terrorist attack on Beyoğlu's Istiklal Avenue, the public prosecutor has requested that the perpetrator of the attack, Ahlam Albashır, be sentenced to 7 consecutive aggravated life sentences and between 1,949 and 3,009 years in prison.

The opinion has been presented in the trial of 36 defendants, 15 of whom are in custody, regarding the terrorist attack on November 13, 2022, in Beyoğlu, where a bomb left on Istiklal Avenue under instructions from the terrorist organization PKK/YPG killed 6 people and injured 99 others.
The hearing at the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court was attended by 9 defendants, 8 of whom are in custody, including Ahlam Albashır, who left the bomb. Some of the detained defendants connected to the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).
Presenting his opinion on the merits at the hearing, public prosecutor Furkan Kafalı requested that the perpetrator of the attack, Ahlam Albashır, be sentenced to 7 aggravated life sentences and between 1,949 and 3,009 years in prison for the crimes of "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state" (aggravated life sentence), "membership in an armed terrorist organization" (7 years and 6 months to 15 years), "intentional killing of a child by bombing with premeditation" (aggravated life sentence), "intentional killing by bombing with premeditation" (5 aggravated life sentences), "attempted intentional killing of 99 people by bombing with premeditation" (1,930 to 2,970 years), and "unauthorized possession or transfer of hazardous materials" (12 to 24 years).
"I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS A BOMB"
After the requested sentence was announced, defendant Ahlam Albashır was given the floor and stated, "I did not know it was a bomb. Ahmet, Ammar, or any other person has nothing to do with this matter. They told me, 'Just go as a tourist and take photos.' I cannot sleep at night because of these people who lost their lives. I am an orphan; I do not want anyone to be left an orphan. I have done everything in my power to help reach certain people. I am ready to go to Syria to help capture the individuals who went there. I went to Rana's house and was eating. I stayed at Fatma's house for a while; they have no connection to terrorism. They were deceived in this incident; they have no guilt. Whatever they give me, I will not object."
Upon this, public prosecutor Kafalı told the interpreter to convey to defendant Albashır: "She mentioned the children she left orphaned just after speaking about being deceived; if she has a conscience, she should not be able to sleep."
