Breaking News: Özgür Özel shares the preliminary expert report on the Bolu fire disaster!

78 citizens lost their lives in a fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel, located at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center. While 14 people have been detained as part of the investigation into the tragedy, a debate over 'responsibility' has begun between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the CHP-run Bolu Municipality.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel has shared the preliminary expert report prepared regarding the tragedy in which 78 citizens lost their lives.

In a post on his X account, Özel recalled the statements made by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, stating, "I am sharing with the public 3 relevant pages of the report, the entirety of which is in our possession. I warn the government, especially the two relevant ministers, regarding this historic mistake, moral burden, and crime."

Özel's post is as follows:

A preliminary report has been prepared by the expert committee regarding the fire tragedy at the Grand Kartal Hotel, where 78 of our citizens lost their lives.

On the day the fire tragedy occurred, the Minister of Interior said, "Whoever is responsible will not be able to escape justice."

Yesterday, the Minister of Justice said, "Whoever is at fault must be held accountable."

According to the report; the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Bolu Provincial Special Administration, the Bolu Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, the hotel management, and the architects and engineers responsible for fire systems and renovations, as well as the building inspection and management officials in charge of maintenance, repair, and supervision, are RESPONSIBLE;

The hotel owner, building contractor firms, individuals involved in the design, implementation, and supervision of the hotel, the individuals and firms responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of electrical and mechanical systems, the authorities authorized to issue building permits, the company insuring the structure, the occupational health and safety specialist, and the employer have been found AT FAULT.

I am receiving reports that pressure is being put on the 7-member committee whose names are known and who prepared this preliminary report—in which our Bolu Municipality is not mentioned, it is determined that the fire started on the 4th floor of the hotel, and those responsible and at fault are listed one by one—that the report is not being accepted, and even that the expert committee will be dismissed.

I am sharing with the public 3 relevant pages of the report, the entirety of which is in our possession.

I warn the government, especially the two relevant ministers, regarding this historic mistake, moral burden, and crime.
