Breaking News: Özgür Özel's appointment decision regarding Gürsel Tekin!

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda during a live broadcast he attended.

Speaking on NOW TV, Özel discussed the investigations conducted into CHP municipalities, the party congress case to be heard on September 15, and the trustee appointed to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Administration.

Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, said in a statement yesterday, "I will call Özgür Özel tomorrow and ask for an appointment." Özel announced that he would not grant an appointment to Tekin.

Özel's statements are as follows:

"These matters have already been discussed with him. These things cannot happen without discussion. Gürsel Tekin is someone who has served in the party in the past and with whom I have also served. I do not find it appropriate to discuss this in front of the public. He wanted to be the mayoral candidate for Kadıköy in the March 31 local elections. We preferred someone else. Gürsel Tekin got angry. He said he would resign from the party. He stated that he left the party by resigning.

The court has made a decision and canceled the congress. I distinguish the person who accepts this duty from the person we served with in the past. A party member is needed for this decision. This should not be accepted. As soon as I heard that he accepted it, I said, 'Let's cut his ties with the party.' We referred him to the disciplinary board with a precautionary measure. Now the High Disciplinary Board (YDK) will take his defense. He can appeal. But Gürsel Tekin is no longer a member of our party.

I would grant an appointment to Gürsel Tekin. But I cannot grant an appointment to a trustee. That would mean recognizing the decision of the civil court of first instance.

As for the funeral, it would smell if left. Everyone should see where the words coming out of their mouth are going. There is a funeral of justice and democracy in the middle. If you are going to fight with that funeral, come, let's fight together. The Istanbul delegates decide who will sit in that seat in Istanbul on our behalf. That name is Özgür Çelik. We cannot grant an appointment to trustee Gürsel Tekin.

There is not a single piece of evidence in the file regarding the slanders of an election from 2 years ago and the disgusting allegations put forward by ugly profiles whose names I do not want to mention. We are not the only ones looking at this file; if there were a single piece of evidence, it would be in the headlines of pro-government newspapers. The goal is to stir up the CHP. Far from falling out with each other in two years, the delegates refreshed their will. When they couldn't find anything there, they turned to the Istanbul Provincial Congress, and that didn't work either. They found a court and gave the file to it. The goal is to disrupt the ongoing congress process."
