The Ministry of Interior has appointed a civil inspector following a criminal complaint regarding projects carried out at Hıdırlıktepe in Ankara, where the Gratitude Monument and the Martyrs' Monument are located.
In a petition submitted to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Osman Gökçek, son of former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek, alleged "rigging of tenders" and "misconduct in office" regarding the recreation area and monument projects implemented in the region.
According to a report by Birgün, the application pointed out that the projects in question were initiated during the period when Mesut Özarslan served as General Manager of PORTAŞ A.Ş. It was stated that the tender processes and construction applications were also carried out during the same period.
The petition further alleged that contracts for certain goods and services procured within the scope of the project were signed at prices above market conditions, which resulted in public loss.
INSPECTOR INVESTIGATION HAS BEGUN
It was reported that the civil inspector assigned to the complaint will conduct a comprehensive investigation covering tender processes, signed protocols, contracts, and implementation phases. It was learned that a decision on whether to grant permission for an investigation will be made in line with the report to be prepared at the end of the inspection.
