The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that, in order to prevent potential traffic congestion caused by thunderstorms and heavy rain expected to begin this afternoon, classes in public and private kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools that operate on a split-shift schedule have been suspended as of 4:00 PM.

The statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office is as follows;

"According to assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, in order to prevent grievances that may arise from traffic congestion due to thunderstorms and heavy rain expected to begin on the European side of Istanbul after noon today, education in public and private kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools in our province that operate on a split-shift schedule has been suspended as of 4:00 PM. Our parents will be informed by our school administrations. Parents who wish to do so may pick up their children. For our working parents, necessary measures will be taken by school management and duty teachers until they can pick up their children."
