Breaking News: Shootout during narcotics operation in Çekmeköy! Special Operations police officer martyred

A shootout broke out in Istanbul's Çekmeköy district after suspects opened fire on police during a narcotics operation. It was announced that Special Operations police officer Emre Albayrak was wounded and the suspect who opened fire, R.A., was neutralized. The police officer, who was critically wounded, was martyred despite all medical interventions at the hospital.

Teams from the Narcotics Crimes Investigation Branch of the Istanbul Police Department conducted a drug raid on an address located on Adnan Kahveci Street in the Aydınlar neighborhood during the morning hours.

During the raid, the suspects inside the house responded to the police teams with gunfire. Special Operations police officer Emre Albayrak was wounded during the clash. The critically wounded police officer was rushed to the hospital for treatment. During the incident, one of the suspects, R.A. (35), was neutralized, while two other suspects, Ç.A. and C.A., were taken into custody by the teams.

The Istanbul Governor's Office issued a statement regarding the matter, which included the following remarks:

"On Monday, December 8, 2025, at approximately 7:30 AM, police teams conducted a raid for a narcotics search on a house located on Adnan Kahveci Street in the Aydınlar neighborhood of Çekmeköy district. During the operation, fire was opened on the police teams from inside the house. As a result of the gunfire, our police officer Emre Albayrak, who serves in the Special Operations Branch Directorate, was wounded."
