BREAKING NEWS... Şişli trustee starts duty quickly: All powers of the Municipal Council have been stripped!

Following the appointment of a trustee to the Şişli Municipality, it has been announced that the powers of the Municipal Council have been transferred. Making a statement on the matter, Şişli Municipal Council Member and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Plan and Budget Commission Chair Oğuz Demir announced that the powers of the elected council members have effectively been stripped.

In his statement, Demir noted that the administration taken over by the trustee has rendered the municipal council dysfunctional, stating, "Today, an official notification was issued stating that the powers of the elected council members have been transferred to the executive committee, which consists of appointed civil servant members."

WHAT WAS ŞİŞLİ MAYOR RESUL EMRAH ŞAHAN ACCUSED OF?

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and many high-level IMM officials have been arrested.

While the government was conducting the Imralı Process with the DEM Party, the CHP was accused of terrorism due to the "Urban Consensus" (Kent Uzlaşısı) named by the DEM Party. Şahan was also arrested on terrorism allegations. Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen was appointed as the trustee to replace Şahan.

The district governor appointed as the trustee to Şişli Municipality notified today that the executive committee, composed of appointed civil servant members, has taken over the powers of the elected council members.

URBAN RESTAURANT ALLEGATION HAD COME TO THE AGENDA

It had been stated that the trustee in Şişli had also closed the urban restaurants (Kent Lokantası) serving in the region. However, the Center for Combating Disinformation had denied the allegations in question.
