Holding a press conference ahead of the Can Atalay session in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated, 'There is no decision to be evaluated on legal grounds.' TİP MP Sera Kadıgil reacted by saying, "Recognizing the Constitutional Court's (AYM) decisions when it suits you and not recognizing them when it does not is not politics, it is a coup. The constitution has been suspended by the AKP."

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will convene in an extraordinary session today at 14:00 for Can Atalay.
Ahead of the critical meeting, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler held a press conference at the TBMM.
Targeting the Constitutional Court (AYM), Güler said, "The AYM has established a process that is clearly contrary to the constitution. There is no decision to be evaluated on legal grounds. It is not possible to establish a result with such a provision." Güler claimed that the AYM has ignored its own jurisprudence.
Highlights from Güler's statements are as follows:
"It has made two decisions. Although similar in content, there are two applications: one with the signatures of 125 MPs who filed an annulment case, and another by other MPs. The AYM has issued a ruling as a result of the demands in the two petitions. The AYM says, 'I am not making a new decision on this matter.' There is no decision at hand.
There are decisions regarding this in the past; they are similar, and they argued that it should be read in the TBMM. There is no result regarding past events with the AYM's provision that there is no room for a decision in its decisions of the same content."
"WE WILL ATTEND THE MEETING IF A QUORUM IS REACHED"
Güler continued his speech as follows:
"Decisions were made in this form. What does this mean? This decision means that the AYM has both ignored its own jurisprudence with similar decisions of its own and has established a process contrary to Article 85 of the Constitution. This is clearly contrary to Article 85 of the Constitution and its own jurisprudence. The dissenting members of the AYM also express this.
There is a conviction judgment at hand. You cannot establish any process with the AYM's ruling without this judgment being lifted. Therefore, in order for the public to be informed correctly and for it to be done within the rules of law, we will attend the extraordinary meeting if a quorum is reached, and we will state these points.
It is stated that the conviction judgment is notified to the TBMM within the scope of Article 84. Since it is not submitted to the vote of the Parliament, it is not possible to establish it through a roundabout way such as an actual violation of the internal regulations. I wish it had rejected it directly by saying 'I am not authorized and competent' in line with its past jurisprudence."
RESPONSE TO GÜLER FROM TİP MP KADIGİL
In response, TİP MP Sera Kadıgil reacted harshly to Güler's words in a statement she made to KRT TV. Kadıgil said, "Recognizing the AYM's decisions when it suits you and not recognizing them when it does not is not politics, it is a coup. The constitution has been suspended by the AKP. We are being governed by an authoritarian, lawless regime."
Pointing out that the session will be chaired by Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ, Sera Kadıgil stated, "The assignment of Bekir Bozdağ is a sign. If a decision in accordance with the constitution were to be taken today, Numan Kurtulmuş would not miss this opportunity, and the director of dirty affairs, Bekir Bozdağ, would not chair the session."
