Breaking News: Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding the martyrs in İskenderun and Pençe-Kilit

The Ministry of National Defense has issued a statement regarding the soldiers who lost their lives due to fluid loss in İskenderun and exposure to gas in the Pençe-Kilit operation zone.

Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor and Spokesperson for the Ministry, expressed his condolences for Air Defense First Lieutenant Tuğrul Özsu and Artillery Specialist Sergeant Servet Ökkeş Çakır, who were martyred in vehicle accidents on July 23 and 30, as well as for guard private Hayrullah Halit Kahraman and supply private Semih Erdoğan, who fell ill and were martyred during basic military training at the İskenderun Naval Recruit Training Regiment Command on July 25.

MSB sources provided a statement regarding the soldiers who were martyred due to fluid loss in İskenderun and exposure to methane gas in the Pençe-Kilit operation zone.

Stating that the administrative investigation launched in İskenderun is ongoing, the sources said, "All activities of the unit in question regarding the incident are being examined in detail, covering the last week. Currently, the results from the forensic medicine department are awaited. Following the results from forensic medicine and the completion of the initiated administrative investigation, the findings will be shared with the public."

Regarding questions about the incident in the Pençe-Kilit operation zone where 12 soldiers were martyred due to gas exposure, Ministry sources shared the information that, "The initiated administrative investigation process is nearing completion. We expect it to be finalized next week. The results will be shared with the public."
