AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at the opening program of the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden.

In his speech, without naming him, Erdoğan targeted the CHP's presidential candidate and IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been imprisoned in Silivri Prison since March 23, as well as the IMM administration.

"Despite all sabotage attempts, we are preparing our Istanbul for the Century of Turkey in a much stronger way," said Erdoğan, adding, "We do not care who our cities vote for. We are not leaving our Istanbul to the mercy of the incompetent and incapable."

Despite the sabotage, we are building historical structures. A city consisting only of concrete is a soulless and identityless city. A city composed only of asphalt and iron is a mechanical city. What makes a city a city is not buildings or bridges. Of course, they are important, but the essential thing is the human. What makes a city a city is the peace and security of those who live there.

Last week, we were shaken by the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Balıkesir. This earthquake reminded us of the urgency once again. The state, the municipality, and the citizens must join hands and resolve urban transformation rapidly.

Serving the nation and the country is primarily a matter of concern. Today, we are opening the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden with you. This place will also serve as a gathering center that will host hundreds of thousands in the event of a disaster. In the event of any disaster, at least 40 thousand tents can be set up. Everything needed in the event of a disaster will be here.

It also hosts a very important health facility. Our emergency hospital, which we put into service in 45 days, is serving here. It provided great service in the fight against the coronavirus.

MESSAGE ON THE RESOLUTION PROCESS

We have considered the sensitivities of all segments of society, and we have taken care not to destroy one side while building the other. We have successfully brought the process to this day. The terrorist organization announced that it is withdrawing its armed elements from our country. Our units are following the developments in the field, and the commission work in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is continuing intensively.
