A decision has been made to open the grave of Cem Garipoğlu, who murdered Münevver Karabulut and later died by suicide in the prison where he was being held.

Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for the Karabulut family, made statements regarding the issue.

"NO ONE BELIEVES HE IS DEAD"

Epözdemir's statements are as follows:

"Extraordinary developments have occurred over the last 2.5 years. The Garipoğlu family posed on the bloodstained sofa at the crime scene. They did not stop there; they held celebrations on March 3, the day Münevver Karabulut was murdered.

The Karabulut family came to me. They said they did not believe Cem Garipoğlu was dead. No one believes that Cem Garipoğlu is dead.

Following this, we requested an exhumation in 2023. As of today, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to proceed with the exhumation.

Psychological reports indicate he was not prone to suicide. There is also no suicide note. Therefore, Cem Garipoğlu's death is suspicious."

WHEN WILL THE GRAVE BE OPENED?

Epözdemir gave the following response to the question of when the grave would be opened:

"The grave will be opened within 3-4 days. The body, which is claimed to belong to Cem Garipoğlu, will be completely removed from Karacaahmet Cemetery. It will be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute. After the Forensic Medicine Institute completes its examination, the body will be returned to the grave."
