Following the earthquakes that occurred off the coast of Istanbul's Silivri district, the largest of which was 6.2, aftershocks continue across the city, and education has been temporarily suspended.
Within the scope of the measures taken after the earthquake, the Ministry of National Education and the Istanbul Governorship made important statements.
SCHOOLS IN ISTANBUL CLOSED FOR 2 DAYS
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that all schools in Istanbul have been closed for 2 days upon the request of AFAD. Tekin stated, "AFAD requested our support to take precautions in schools following the tremors. In this context, we are closing schools for tomorrow and the following day, only across the province of Istanbul," he said.
UNIVERSITIES ALSO CLOSED
Not only primary and secondary education institutions but also universities were affected by the closure. It was reported that education has been suspended for two days in all foundation and state universities in Istanbul. Officials stated that during this period, potential risks will be assessed and necessary checks will be carried out on university campuses.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE FOR PUBLIC PERSONNEL
In a statement made by the Istanbul Governorship, it was announced that some personnel working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave.

Pregnant employees
Disabled veterans
Female employees with children under the age of 10 will be considered on administrative leave for two days.
However, it was reported that personnel working in health and security units are excluded from this scope.
