Bribery operation carried out in two municipalities

Thirteen out of 34 individuals referred to the courthouse following an operation targeting the Çukurova and Seyhan municipalities for "zoning irregularities, bribery, and forgery of official documents" have been arrested.

Among those arrested was a former deputy mayor of Çukurova Municipality.

Of those referred to the courthouse, 17 were released under judicial control conditions, while 3 were placed under house arrest.

After the prosecutor's office issued detention warrants for the suspects, teams took action and conducted a dawn operation on September 29 at the individuals' addresses and municipal buildings.

DEPUTY MAYOR AND FORMER ZONING DIRECTOR ALSO INVOLVED

During the operation, 60 suspects were detained, including former Çukurova Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali A., former zoning director Hasan U., Seyhan Deputy Mayor Leyla Z., zoning directors, and numerous municipal employees.

34 SUSPECTS REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE

Seizure orders were also applied to 112 properties and 37 vehicles considered to be assets derived from crime. Searches at the addresses yielded 1 kilogram and 980 grams of raw gold, 1 kilogram of silver bullion, jewelry worth 4 million 100 thousand lira, 11 thousand 370 dollars, 5 thousand 700 euros, 17 thousand 50 lira, and 1 handgun.

Twenty-six of the suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were released upon the prosecutor's instruction. Thirty-four suspects, including former Çukurova Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali A., former zoning director Hasan U., and Seyhan Deputy Mayor Leyla Z., were referred to the courthouse.

Of the suspects who appeared before the judge, 17 were released under judicial control conditions and 3 were sentenced to house arrest, while 13 people, including former Çukurova Deputy Mayor Ali Arslanoğlu, were arrested and sent to prison.
