Buğra Gökce appointed President of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA)

Urban Planner Buğra Gökce has been appointed President of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA). In his statement, Gökce said, "Together with our Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and all members of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality family, we will continue to walk forward and work 24/7 for Istanbul and our Turkey with new investments and new initiatives so that everything may be much more beautiful."

Urban Planner Buğra Gökce, announced in a post on X that he has become the President of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA).

Gökce stated the following in his announcement:

"Dear friends, dear Istanbulites, I would like to share some news with you that is a source of pride for me:

I have assumed the presidency of @ipaistanbul, which was established in 2020 to plan Istanbul in light of scientific studies and with the participation of Istanbulites, to identify current problems belonging to our beautiful city, and to develop data-driven strategies and policy recommendations for the solution of these problems, and which has developed projects and policies of vital importance for the future of Istanbul to date. 

I have assumed the presidency of @ipaistanbul.

I would like to thank 

our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu for entrusting me with this important duty and responsibility, and our founding president, my dear friend Emrah Şahan, who brought the Istanbul Planning Agency to Istanbul. I also wish continued success to all my colleagues who have set an example with their work within the IPA until this date.

 In this new term, the IPA will continue to serve Istanbul in line with its founding purposes and principles, in the light of reason and science, with the contributions of expert academics from different disciplines and the participation of 16 million Istanbulites. At the same time, through our Municipal Unions, we will offer a cooperation model not only to Istanbul but also to local governments and academia across Turkey. We will advance toward our goal of becoming an exemplary institution not only in Turkey but also in Europe and the world on issues concerning the future of our cities.

Together with our Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and all members of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality family, we will continue to walk forward and work 24/7 for Istanbul and our Turkey with new investments and initiatives so that everything becomes much more beautiful.

Gökce had been a candidate for the CHP nomination for the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in the March 31 local elections.  Following the elections, Gökce returned to his position at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).
