Arınç responded to Kılıçdaroğlu, who targeted him following his meetings with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Arınç stated, "Kılıçdaroğlu owes me an apology."
Speaking to journalist Barış Terkoğlu from Onlar TV, Arınç argued that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's assessments regarding him were unfair and said he expected an apology.
Arınç stated, “We met with Özgür Özel twice, and neither meeting had anything to do with the internal affairs of the CHP. Our first meeting was in the nature of condolences for our two mayors who passed away in Manisa. The second was regarding my invitation to him for the iftar and mawlid program that I traditionally organize every Ramadan in Manisa. Later, he paid a return visit to my office in Parliament; there, we only talked about Manisa and the agenda of Turkey,” he said.
“NOT A SINGLE WORD WAS SPOKEN”
Rejecting the assessments that he was involved in the internal processes of the main opposition party, Arınç stated that these issues were never on the agenda during the meetings.
Arınç said, “I swear, not a single word was spoken about the internal affairs of the CHP. I never entered into these topics, and Mr. Özgür, showing great political courtesy, never brought them up. In that meeting, I even said extremely positive and constructive things about Mr. Kemal to Mr. Özgür. I am not involved in any political disputes,” he said.
“HE OWES AN APOLOGY”
Expressing his astonishment at Kılıçdaroğlu's statements about him, Arınç concluded his words as follows:
“I was very surprised by Mr. Kemal's words. If I meet with him, I will tell him as well. Let me say it through you; I think he owes me an apology for having ill-intentions about me.”
WHAT DID KILIÇDAROĞLU SAY?
In a broadcast on Sözcü TV, Kılıçdaroğlu had said, "I criticized Erdoğan in every period. When Mr. Özgür said 'we will negotiate,' I posted a tweet. I said, 'You don't negotiate, you fight.' What does a party chairman discuss for two hours with someone from the AK Party who served as Speaker of Parliament in the past? And after coming out, he says, 'We discussed the party's problems.' How does the CHP Chairman discuss the party's problems with an important actor of the AK Party? You are journalists, why don't you ask?"
