Bülent Arınç responded to these words from Yalçın on his social media account, stating, "Do you know what they say when I ask 'who is this?' about you? 'Sharibul layli ven nahar.' You are a professor in the field of history, you will understand what this means..."

'Sharibul layli ven nahar' is an idiom of Ottoman Turkish origin used to mean "one who drinks night and day," "a drunkard," or "addicted to alcohol."

The full text of Bülent Arınç's post is as follows:

"In Anatolia, when people name their children, they pray that they 'live up to their name' so that the children might possess a character like the meaning of the names given to them. They gave you the name Edip so you would be well-mannered, and Semih so you would be generous and tolerant, but alas! You have not been... I have been reading what this person, who is far from the meanings of his name and thinks about which unheard-of insult he can use every time he picks up a pen, has been writing about me for two years, but I did not feel the need to respond."

"THE STONE OF PATIENCE HAS CRACKED"

There are two reasons for this. The first is that when you respond to such names, they get carried away and resort to even more insulting expressions. The second and more important one was my respect for MHP Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli. Mr. Bahçeli has often been harsh in his criticisms of me, but he has stated that because I took on the cases of idealists (Ülkücüler) after the September 12 coup, all idealists have love and respect for me, and that he himself knows this very well. However, at the point we have reached, the limit has been exceeded, and the stone of patience has cracked...

The expressions you poured toward me from your pus-dripping pen based on the ideas I expressed in a speech I gave last Saturday do not stick to me. I have been in politics for 40 years, and my only guide has been conscience and morality. I am returning all the expressions you have barked at me to date with default interest.

They say it is the greatest pain in the world, and only those who experience it know. Believe me, my hair turned white in one night. There is something I have observed in people who experience such pain. A person's conscience scale becomes sensitive, the doors of mercy and the eye of the heart open wide. As for you, the doors of mercy have been chained, your conscience scale does not weigh, and the eye of your heart has gone blind.

In short, what I will say is this: This person must put an end to these things now. Otherwise, I will complain about him personally to Mr. Bahçeli and ask that this person, who holds the title of his deputy, put an end to his insults. I no longer intend to silence my voice against these insults."
